Hey everyone,
So in this week's issue, I wanna talk about how there are 2 types of people in this world.
Basically, whenever there's a storm, there's a cow and there's a bull.
When a storm comes, the cow runs away from it. Like, you know, obviously the storm is coming and there's lightning and thunder and winds are at very high speeds and you wanna escape that. Right? So the cow tries to outrun it, but while it's running away, it's actually staying in the storm longer. The cow ends up wet, tired, didn't have a good time, and obviously it was scared.
On the other hand, there's a bull. The bull is also scared of the storm, but it runs towards the storm. And obviously, there's a lot of resistance going against the wind and thunder, and there's a lot of bad vibes that the bull also has to face. But because it's charging straight through, the storm is over very quickly.
Think about it - if a storm is 4 hours wide, the cow running away might stay in it for the full 4 hours. But the bull charging straight through? Maybe just half an hour or an hour. The bull had to show courage up front and face more hardships initially, but it gets to the other side way faster.
This is what I have learned from my life experiences - I've been both animals. I've been the cow running away, and I've been the bull charging forward. And you know what? The storm always comes to an end either way. All the bad times in life eventually pass.
The storm always comes to an end either way. All the bad times in life eventually pass.
But here's the difference - when I choose to be the bull, when I decide to just go head-on and face whatever's coming at me, everything changes. There's this motto that I always follow: the only way out is through.
When I do this - when I choose to go straight through - yeah, I have to face hardships, but then the hardships get over very quickly. And on the other side of the hardship, there's a bright, good season of your life where you're gonna enjoy and eat the fruits of your hard work. Then another hardship comes, and I again race towards it, face it, cut it down, master it. This is how I keep on upgrading the level of my video game life.
The thing is, I used to be the other way. I used to be in that camp where I would just run away from the storm, the hardship, the challenge that's in front of me. I would run away thinking that this is the time to just protect ourselves, play defensively, and not attack.
And at the end of those long storms, I'd be so proud of myself that I didn't give up, that I was able to endure it longer than others. I'd think, "Look, I went through 4 hours of hardship while someone else only dealt with it for half an hour. I'm stronger, more capable than them."
But you know what I didn't realize? They weren't weaker - they were smarter. They did what was required to be done, and I was just being a cow.
Look, I’m not trying to tell anyone how to face challenges, I’m just sharing what worked for me, and as I mentioned, the only way out is through. When we have a challenge, when we're facing uncomfortable times, being comfortable in the uncomfortable - that's what leads to success. Not because we're tougher or more capable of suffering, but because we get through it faster and get to enjoy the good times longer.
Life's going to throw storms at you. That's guaranteed. But you get to choose what kind of animal you want to be when they hit. You can run away and stay soaked for hours, or you can charge straight through and come out the other side faster, stronger, and ready for whatever's next.
Me? I'm done being the cow. When the next storm comes - and it will - I'm putting my head down and charging straight through it. Because the only way out is through, and I'd rather spend my time on the sunny side of the storm than running from it.
Have a great week!
